Well, this is just like operating any retail business and must be sensitive to any external environment & threats. On Internet, everything is dynamic, include search engine ranking as well. New websites are coming up every single day. Good reputation site will stay at top. Bad one will go.

However, Internet marketing is not just about search engine. There are other sources to get traffic as well, such as directory, forum, social media & etc. The problem come across when we just build a make for AdSense VRE and try to fool the search engine. VRE is not just about AdSense. It is all about content. The smart marketer will focus on list building. They will also leverage on other website that easy rank well, such as article & video directory, and many others.

Another example is, for some reason, Google changed its ranking algorithm. A site/VRE which was ranking position 1-3 for the past 2 years, suddenly found it self on page 5. VRE can dangerously become "worthless" overnight.

Everything virtual is just that - virtual. Everything virtual changes very quickly - so risk can be high. The price of a physical real estate like a house on freehold land may fluctuate but there is limitation to its fluctuation. The price of a web business can fluctuate like crazy. One day it may be worth 100,000...the next week it can be 2,000 only. This makes anything virtual can be really scary. Maybe the new buyer discovered that the claimed huge traffic that it receives are "junk" traffic that is not relevant to the site. This is just one example.

Of course we internet business owners would like to think highly of our virtual real estates. And would like to think that our virtual real estates can generate good money for us to buy the real world physical stuff that we need - car, house, food, clothings.

What is your opinion on this ycng ?
