Avoid the “Google Slap”
Leave the first response September 20, 2009 / Posted in PPC Tips
The Google Slap is an adjustment made to AdWords that penalizes advertisers who have landing pages and sites with little content and value.
It especially slapped advertisers that use “name squeeze” pages, since name squeezes tend to have very little content.
Lately, it also slapped a product review sites which happen to most affiliate marketer. They suddenly had high minimum bids for many of their keywords and its quality score dropped to 1 overnight.
Surprisingly, some of the review sites are well build out and consistently updated. They have all the elements that meet Google’s quality criteria.
Now, Google is recommending them to bid $10.00 on each keywords to appear on first page!
Based on the research from several well-known marketers, a major telltale sign for Google is when the landing page is heavy with affiliate links to other vendors and sites.
One quick fix that I find helpful to overcome Google Slap is to move the landing page to a content site with a high page rank. Pause the exisiting campaign that slapped by Google and copy it into a new campaign.
Building a good quality content site is always helpful to overcome such situation and I’m grateful that I’ve several content websites to leverage. My first SBI site is even treated as an authoritative site where I enjoy a Google top listing with submenu.
For affiliate marketer, the most important lesson from Google Slap experience is to shift the mindset from traffic broker to value added affiliate.
We can turn it into something of value for ourselve by
- offering our own legitimate content
- building our own mailing lists
This is a long term approach to build a true asset.
Below video from Google’s Chief Economist, Hal Varian, is worth watching to understand the quality score. He explains the AdWords Ad Auction and how the max CPC bid and quality score determine how much we pay for a click.
Social Media Revolution
Leave the first response September 5, 2009 / Posted in Social MediaHow Social Media transform the way we live and do business?
Take a look at this promotion video for Socialnomics, a new book authored by Erik Qualman…
From Socialnomics
Social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter are fundamentally changing the way businesses and consumers behave, connecting hundreds of millions of people to each other via instant communication. This is a massive socio-economic shift that is fundamentally changing the way consumers and companies communicate and interact with each other.
Welcome to the world of Socialnomics—where consumers and the societies they create online have a profound influence on our economy and the businesses that operate within it. Online word of mouth and the powerful influence of peer groups have already made many traditional marketing strategies obsolete. Today’s best businesses and marketers are learning to profitably navigate this new landscape.
Brands can now be strengthened or destroyed by the use of social media. Advertising is less effective at influencing consumers than are the opinions of their peers, making direct-to-consumer marketing messages less valuable each day. But savvy companies are using online networking sites as massive focus groups and as an efficient means of communication with consumers. If social media isn’t a part of your business strategy, you’ve already fallen behind the curve—and your competition.
In Socialnomics, Erik Qualman offers a fascinating look at the impact of social media on business to reveal what the future holds and how businesses can best take advantage of it. He explores how social media is changing the way businesses produce, market, and sell products; how it eliminates inefficient marketing tactics and middlemen; and how businesses are connecting directly with their customers through popular social media platforms.
Social media will continue to change the way businesses market products and how consumers and businesses interact with each other. If you’re a marketer or business owner, the big question is whether you’ll keep up with those changes. Socialnomics is an essential resource for anyone who wants to understand the implications of social media, and how to tap its power to increase sales, cut marketing costs, and communicate directly with consumers.
Site Build It!
Leave the first response September 4, 2009 / Posted in Internet BusinessIf you have read my personal journey into affiliate marketing, you may know that I started my first content theme site with Site Build It! (SBI!). SBI! provided me an exceptional foundation on building an in-demand content website.
Whenever my friends approach me for information about the start up of internet marketing, I always recommend them to consider SBI! because the package is completed with domain, webhosting and the most important – the valuable internet marketing lessons, suitable for a beginner who know little about web design and web site marketing.
I was using SBI! for two years before switching to XSitePro to build the rest of my sites (to cut cost
). Two weeks ago, I signed up SBI! again to build my website for my upcoming coaching services (more coming…
).
Wow, SBI! has included a lot of new features!
After several years, I find their site building processes are indeed a valuable e-business lessons still.
No wonder, 30 accredited centers of higher education in US are selecting SBI! as the way to teach undergraduates, MBAs and Continuing Education students how to use the Web to build a successful online business.
The “valuable lessons” I mean here is the CTPM process…

… the step-by-step process of how to turn your knowledge into Content… and your Content into Traffic, then PRESells those visitors and converts them into Money.
That is what makes SBI! unique… and effective.
Before building a website, it is so critical to invest time on planning stage to develop the site content blueprint.
- Brainstorming
This Brainstorming process is all about Think – Plan – Consider – Research – Adjust.
Otherwise, you will just build another unvisited website, like most of the websites out there.
If you are interested to find out more about CTPM process, click here to look “inside” at the guide that SBIers actually use and how they build a small but flourishing and profitable business on the net.
This online SBI! Action Guide shows you how to execute the natural, powerful CTPM process, using SBI!’s easy-to-use, integrated set of tools.
Even though you are using other website builders, I am sure you will pick up lot of useful information especially the steps to develop site content blueprint.
Case Study: An Excellent ROI with “Google Cash” Method
1 Comment July 18, 2009 / Posted in Affiliate Marketing Case StudiesThis case study is about my experiment on “Google Cash Method” – direct linking through Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising and it works surprisingly well!
Google Cash method was first published online by Chris Carpenter in 2003 and revised 4 times thus far. The original Google Cash method was focusing on direct linking through PPC advertising. However, the latest revision focuses on landing page techniques as well.
Suzanne, the Affiliate Manager from NetPicks contacted me early last month about the launching of UST-Forex Edition.
Due to my active promotion on another product launched on early June, I did not want to promote another product within such a short period to my targeted email lists. Hence, I decided to try direct linking with Google Search as well as its Content Network.
Here was the launch schedule for UST Forex Edition that I received from Suzanne:
6/22 – JV email #1 with first pre-launch content
6/24 – JV email #2 with second pre-launch content (Link to the blog) + blog contest
6/26 – JV follow up webinar announcement, and blog contest reminder
6/28 – JV follow up email with webinar reminder and blog contest reminder (optional)
6/29 – Launch Webinar and Blog Contest Winner Announced – JV email early morning reminder (optional)
6/30 – JV email #3 with launch opening announcement
7/2 – JV email #4 with third piece of launch content with launch close warning
7/3 – Launch Close
7/6-7/8 – 2nd Chance Order Page Re-Open (optional – probably 2 emails)
Based on my experience, I knew it is going to do well with this proper launching formula.
Social proof, reciprocity, credibility, urgency and scarcity are the techniques that have been tested many times and it works in a product launch processes.
I have participated with several high-ticket Forex product launches with similar launching formula. These products were converted well through my targeted email lists but I have not test it with direct linking through PPC advertising.
Hence, I decided to give it a try.
My idea of direct linking was about sending the visitors to their opt-in page to download the free trade management software. With this plan, my advertising campaign only scheduled to run for 7 days, from 22nd until 28th June. Then, I let NetPicks to follow up with the leads referred through my PPC traffic.
Here was the nice design sales page that went live on the launch day:

The result? You guess…
I generated 6 sales on the launch day (29th June) but 1 sale was refunded a week later.
Excluding the refunded amount, my total commissions earned was US$869.75. Here are the sales screenshot:

You will be amazed knowing that I only spent US$66.04 on Google Search and Content Network!
This means that I spent $1 to make almost $13 in return
The following screenshots were my 5 ad groups for my Google AdWords campaign:
Ad Group #1

Ad Group #2

Ad Group #3

Ad Group #4

Ad Group #5

Total advertising cost was only US$66.04.
It generated 37 leads according to the NetPicks’ affiliate report as shown below:

Within these 37 leads, 5 of them were converted into sales. This was 13.5% conversion rate – extremely good conversion for a US$500 product.
Well, this case study is merely just a case study!
The aim is to show that the direct linking method still works under certain conditions.
I do not recommend to apply it especially on Clickbank products where there is fierce competition unless you are very creative on your keyword research.
I have to be honest that direct linking is not my cup of tea.
In fact, it is not a viable long term strategy!
To be successful in PPC affiliate marketing, you need to be clear that there are certain aspects of the sales funnel that you have control over but not all.
You have no influence over what your visitors see once you direct them to a merchant website.
I always prefer to drive traffic directly to my landing page where I have certain control on the visitors such as pre-sell the recommended product as well as entice them to opt-in for free report, and etc.
My advice is to stop thinking affiliate marketing as a money making tactics. Always think long term instead of just generating instant income.
List Building is the KEY!
With the correct mindset, you will always find a cost-effective way to build targeted lists – an ASSET…

Build an Internet Business the Right Way
Leave the first response July 2, 2009 / Posted in Internet BusinessThere is countless of ads about making money online in the newspapers and internet. It could be very misleading. Those marketers always present you their earning screenshots within the quick period without disclosing their expenses and prompt you to buy their pricey courses. Those courses merely provide you tactics to make instant money online. This is only a short term game.
Building the real internet business is much more than this. Such tactics are just one of the components of business building.
Zamri Nanyan has just disclosed his mentoring conversation with Patric Chan. He paid Patric thousands of dollars to consult him so that he can build a real internet business that will ultimately give him financial freedom. I find it extremely helpful for those who plan to start their online business. Patric shares how to build a sustainable business correctly from ground zero. Patric is a very successful Malaysian internet marketer and is well-respected internationally. Both Zamri and Patric are from Penang

Click here to download the mp3.
Here is what I learnt from the audio, in a simple mind map…

Patric mentioned the 8-step model in order to build a sustainable business and he shared 5 of them in this audio. It’s important to focus on these early steps one at a time and do them in the correct order. I agree that affiliate marketing may not fulfill the 8 steps but it depends on how you develop it.
They are plenty of newbie marketers who use the ready made review template and invest on PPC advertising. Although they have no problem to make some money here and there, but in order to do it successfully they need to do more. Furthermore, it is no fun to target so many markets and they will get bored easily. Such a simple 2 or 3-step processes are so easy for other marketers to rip off the entire model.
Those super affiliate marketers who target various markets and made a million dollars a year are systemizing the multiple processes and build a team to achieve it.
It is always challenging to market a product successfully. It is critical to gain trust from the visitors by giving more values to them. Look at some of the super affiliate marketers like Rosalind Gardner and Allan Gardyne, they have built a successful portals, the assets that not easy to be ripped off.
Believe me, after listening to this one hour audio, it is going to change your paradigm. The way how you think about building an internet business will be different.
My respect to Zamri for sharing such a helpful and personal conversation for free.
Thanks, Zamri.
You have to dare to dream – set a clear path or target of what you want to do, acquire the necessary knowledge and work hard for it.

Case Study: 5-Figure from One Clickbank’s Forex Product
1 Comment June 27, 2009 / Posted in Affiliate Marketing Case StudiesClickbank Product

I started promoting FAPTurbo since it was newly launched on 25th November 2008. This is an automated Forex trading tool with no prior Forex knowledge required. Most of the buyers are novice traders.
Forex is my target niche and it has contributed significant income to my affiliate business. I have the first mover advantage together with other affiliates under their JV list.
This product had quickly become the most popular product in Clickbank. At one time, this product even had a “gravity” of 900+. “Gravity” is the weighted sum for the distinct of affiliates who earned a referral commission for the product. This is the extremely popular product among affiliates and this also means fierce competition.
From the affiliate competition few months ago, I was ranked one of the top 10 affiliate for this product and awarded US$1K prize.
Here is the screenshot of my commission between 25th November 2008 until 31st March 2009:

… and the refunds at the same period:

In summary:
Total Commission: US$43,369.55 (565 sales)
Total Refund: US$6,688.49 (87 sales)
Refund Rate: 15.4%
Landing Page
In order to have a better feel of the product, I have purchased it and performed the demo trade by myself. After doing some research of the product, I put up the landing page that designed using XSitePro.
I’m not a good copywriter. At first, I created a draft copy from what I’ve learned from my research and then paid the ghostwriter at Elance to rewrite it to a better copy with more enticing tone.
Since the developer started the support forum, I have amended the copy several times . This is a very active forum where users share their experiences and results. I gathered lot of useful information with regards to the pros and cons of the product, all from the perspective of large group of users.
I target two types of landing page: pre-sell page and review page.
What are the differences between pre-sell and review page?
Pre-sell is a highly effective tactic that uses to warm the prospect into purchasing a product. It focuses on a single product only.
For a review page, we usually position yourself as an expert by comparing a number of different products that the prospect may be interested in and then concluding with some sort of judgment as to which is the best one. I usually target 3-4 products.
Here is the screenshot of my pre-sell page:

… and review page:

I will not disclose the url here as there are just too many copycats. Some of them even copy 80% from my copy.
You should write the product pre-sell and review with integrity. Do not ever mislead your prospect with the product you market. Nowadays, 99% of info products provide at least 30 days money back guarantee. You will be punished with the high refund rate if you do so. I always like to provide a balanced review with neutral conclusion and stated the pros and cons clearly. I also mention about the money back guarantee policy.
Keyword Research
In this case, I focus on the brand name keywords and closely related terms.
Here are my keywords lists:
fapturbo
fap turbo
fapturbo review
fapturbo scam
fapturbo robot
fap turbo review
fap turbo scam
fap turbo robot
www.fapturbo.com
fapturbo.com
fapturbo com

“Brand name” keywords are working well for NEW Clickbank product. This is no longer a secret for most Clickbank’s affiliates. Once the product becomes popular, most affiliates will bid at the same keywords which would inflate the bidding cost. Hence, you need to expand your keyword research into other related terms. Those affiliates with some creativity will have a nice ROI.
By copying my keyword list blindly is not going to work for you because these keywords are too expensive now. You need to bid more than US$1.00 in order to appear in the first page in Google. This is excluding my campaign history and quality score which usually pay less than you in overall.
Google Adwords & Campaign
I run the campaign in two different Google Adwords accounts, target two different landing pages. I started my 2nd campaign after 1 month of the product launched for my review page. When you know certain products work well, you may consider creating competition for yourself and determine a winner among these two campaigns. By running ads at two accounts, I will have an edge over other affiliates because I can run two ads at the same time.
However, be careful when you are doing this because Google will not allow you to create two accounts with the same registered name. You need to be smart here and make sure your landing pages are on different url.
Here are my campaign performance for presell page:

and for review page:

Total advertising cost incurred is US$20,349.98.
There are few important settings that I applied to all my Campaigns:

Targeting Audience
I only target English speaking countries. USA is the mainstream market. Besides I also include Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Search Network Only
I always keep Search and Content networks separate. And, only enable Search Network only.
I am testing Content networks on other products after ignoring them for sometimes. I got to know of several products that don’t perform well on the search network that do quite well on the content network. If you want to advertise on the content network, create a NEW separate campaign and name it “XXX – Content” so you can distinguish it easily.
Position Preference

I enabled the position preference in my Campaign and always target a position range of 3-7 or sometimes 2-8 for all my keywords. This means they only display when a ’slot’ is available in the specified position range.
I just don’t like my ad to show at No.1 position due to “happy clickers” that tend to click on the first thing they see. Besides, Click-Through-Rate (CTR) will be improved by displaying the ads in the tight range. This is going to improve the Quality Score and will be rewarded with low Cost-Per-Click (CPC) in long run.
Keyword Match
I only focus on “exact match” and “phrase match” only. See below setting:

Please note also the 3 to 7 of position preference setting.
Negative Keyword
I always include “negative match” phrases. These are words that I do not want my ad to appear for when included with my search phrase. Here is the list of negative keywords I used for this campaign:

Ad Writing
CTR is key here. It’s very important. By writing an catchy ad, you can earn a great CTR and get your bids lower.
Here are the sample ad that I used for my campaign:
FapTurbo Scam?
Don’t Buy FapTurbo Robot Now!
Discover The Truth Behind The Hype.
www.FapTurboXxx.com
Please note the keyword in the Headline, Description and Display URL.
When there is a search for the term ‘fapturbo’, the word will be bolded and my advert will stand out. So the ad and the website appear to be 100% relevant, and will help improve my CTR!”
Injecting scarcity, urgency and fear into PPC text ads is an effective way to improve CTR. However, it is meaningless to have a killer click through rate if you don’t sell anything.
I have reduced using fear factors like “is it scam?” and do not recommend you to use it too.
“X” explained this very well in the Affiliate Black Book:
Whenever you ask a question – ANY QUESTION – you put people in state. They go into their head, and they start drudging up all kinds of experiences and scenarios that help evaluate the association they have with the word “scam”.
Then when they arrive at the site, with the FEELINGS associated with scam, someone has to overcome that.
It’s like eating a handful of cow dung followed by a piece of apple pie, and then being asked if you want to buy the whole pie.
Here is another good sample ad from an affiliate:

This guy is No.1 super affiliate for this product. He did very well in SEO as well as PPC. I’ve been spying on his website for sometimes
NOTE: Catchy ad is important to improve CTR. I always aim for above 2%. However, we also need to understand that clicks without conversion mean nothing. Hence, the real measure should be cost per conversion.
Optimizing & Improvement…
I am still running the campaign until now but have tweaked and made several adjustments to the landing page and remove lot of unconverted keywords. I have expanded keyword list into more related terms and started tracking individual keywords using Affiliate Prophet.
I have to agree that there is fierce competition for FAPTurbo now. It becomes mass marketed with 40,000 users. Keywords are getting very expensive and conversion is dropping as well. The “gravity” of this product has dropped from 900+ to 400+. However, I am still making sales regularly from this product. I have few websites promoting this product now and has put some effort on SEO and article marketing but PPC is still my primary marketing method!
I hope you find this simple case study helpful. Stay tune for the coming case study and how I promote high ticket items that is sold for US$2,000 per item.
Building A Successful Virtual Real Estate
2 Comments June 19, 2009 / Posted in Internet BusinessBuilding a network of content affiliate websites can be massively profitable. John Reese called it a VRE (Virtual Real Estate) sites. Below is the excerpt from his email 2-3 years ago that emphasize the important of VRE…
Today I am sending you this message that might be the most important email you ever receive.Okay… That sounds kinda “hypey” doesn’t it?
Well, maybe it does. But the fact of the matter is, I am about to tell you about something that very well may change your life — especially if you are truly interested in building a solid income online.
As you probably know by now, I’ve been singing the praises of “VRE” (Virtual Real Estate creation) for over a year now. The online advertising industry has rebounded from the big “Dot Com” crash that happened just 5 years ago. More money than ever is being pumped into online advertising today than ever before. And setting up a VRE ‘empire’ is one of the best ways for you to make money online.
In fact, VRE is very much like the “gold rush” that happened with .COM domain names. Wouldn’t you like to be able to go back to 1994 and buy almost any .COM domain name you wanted? Just think of how much money you would make by turning around and selling single domains for as much as $250,000 or more!
But, unfortunately, we can’t go back in time and take advantage of that opportunity that has now passed. HOWEVER…
What we *can* do is take advantage of lucrative new opportunities. And VRE is one of the best I’ve seen since I’ve been marketing online since 1990.
That’s right. One of the BEST in the history of the Internet.
And here’s the greatest thing about this opportunity…
Unlike the .COM gold rush and other past opportunities, VRE is going to be around practically FOREVER. So it’s not going to just go away and no longer make money.
BUT…
There’s a very important reason that you ABSOLUTELY MUST take action *today* if you want to make a ton of money with your own VRE empire…
You see, as time goes on, more and more and more and more people are going to get into the VRE ‘game’. Competition is going to get tougher. It will become harder and harder to get tons of free traffic from the search engines. It is going to get MUCH harder to make easy profits.
Plain and simple. VRE will eventually become something that’s very difficult to make a lot of money with. It doesn’t mean that there won’t always be a decent opportunity to create VRE type sites and make money (even 10 years from now) but single sites won’t make as much money as they can today.
FACT: If you want to make as much money as possible online, there are certain things you must absolutely start doing RIGHT NOW.
As you probably know, one of the most critical components for getting free search engine traffic is to get incoming links to your site from other sites. Because of this, the people that act NOW and start creating sites and getting these links together will have a MAJOR advantage over people that try to get into the VRE game in the future.
Why?
It’s simple. Once you have a certain number of incoming links to your site and it gives you higher search engine rankings, your site will build STABILITY in the rankings.
In other words, it will be harder and harder for competition to beat your page rankings. AND since you will get more traffic than “newcomers” to your market, you’ll be able to have links on your pages that invite other sites to TRADE LINKS with you — giving you more incoming links and GROWING YOUR ADVANTAGE over future competition.
So it’s critical that you get things going TODAY if you want to take advantage of this awesome opportunity.
And it’s not just about getting those incoming links. There are many other critical components to building a successful VRE empire…
For example, during the past year several “page generation” software products came out. These programs allowed you to crank out tons of VRE pages for any niche you wanted.
I made a small fortune using these software programs myself. They made a ton of money when paired with Google AdSense or other affiliate programs.
However… too many people starting cranking out these automated web pages and flooded Google, Yahoo, and MSN with them. Those search engines eventually cracked down and worked hard to REMOVE them all from their databases.
So those software programs don’t work as well as they once did. And in many cases, they don’t work at all.
But VRE is not some “flash in the pan” concept. It’s not about creating sneaky pages or tricking the search engines. It’s quite simply about building valuable CONTENT sites that offer educational information to site visitors — the foundation of what makes up the Internet in the first place.
The value of having a web site that has SOLID TARGETED CONTENT is *never* going to go away on the Internet. And this is what VRE is all about. Creating targeted content for small niche markets and then making money by running advertising (like through Google AdSense) or putting up links to affiliate products.
So when your visitors want to know more about the topic your site talks about, they can proceed through the links on your site to buy related products and services — and you get paid when they do. Or in the case of Google AdSense, you simply get paid if anyone just clicks on any of the ads they will display on your pages.
Very simple, yet very powerful stuff that can add up to A LOT of money. Some VRE entrepreneurs have been making in excess of $20,000 A DAY.
Yes, $20,000 per day.
Now certainly those are extreme examples. Everyone isn’t going to go out there and be able to build a VRE business that big – although many people will. But the opportunity is certainly there for MANY people to make $250,000+ per year with a VRE business.
If you’re a subscriber to my Reese Report (reesereport.com) private newsletter then you already know how important I think VRE is. Heck, I write about it and include sections about it in each monthly CD-ROM and printed newsletter.
And the best thing about VRE is the fact that it fits in with ANY online business model. If you want to sell ebooks or other infoproducts then you’re CRAZY if you don’t also build VRE sites for your market where you can not only generate tons of additional sales for your products but also make money from the ads on your site.
It’s just a no-brainer!
VRE is incredibly powerful and is probably the PERFECT BUSINESS at the same time. It costs very little to build a huge VRE business and yet it can yield massive returns — on a consistent, month-to-month basis. (And even possibly YEARS to come.)
And what better way to make money than to not have to have your own product to sell. All you do is create content sites online and make money when your site visitors click on links and/or buy other people’s stuff.
And best of all, there’s NO LIMIT to the number of VRE sites you can have. If you create some little VRE sites that make $5/day, there’s no reason you can’t try and make 1,000+ other sites just like it. It’s that powerful and that scalable.
My Personal Journey into Affiliate Marketing
4 Comments June 18, 2009 / Posted in Affiliate MarketingIt was in early 2003, I saw an advertisement at The Star about making money through the Internet seminar. I was very excited about the opportunity and did lot of research into it. I did attend the preview but did not sign up the RM5K seminar because I’ve signed up Money Mastery Mentorship Program a month before and no budget for additional seminar.
The Money Mastery program strengthens my determination to explore further on various business models available for making money online. After the boot camp, I set my target and decided to focus on affiliate marketing.
My first commission cheque…
My first investment was Site Build It (SBI) from Dr. Ken Evoy. The package came complete with domain and webhosting and internet marketing lessons, suitable for a beginner who knew little about web design. SBI provided me an extremely good foundation on building a good content website. I also picked up lot of good info from their forum. I launched my first affiliate site at the end of 2003. This is in stock trading niche. I did not make any money in the first few months. My first commission came after 4-5 months with a US$60 commission. I was so excited about it, that was my first online pay cheque.
My first breakthrough…
My first breakthrough was at end of 2004. I spent US$1K on John Reese’s Traffic Secret course. That was really expensive course. I bought it from the affiliate link of Phil Wiley and he built me a 10-page content website in return. The main ideas that I gained from this course was Pay-Per-Click (PPC) traffics. I buy the idea that it is inevitable to invest before you can make money online. I need to treat it as a “business”, spending $1 to get $3 or more in return. This simple idea opened up my window of opportunity because all the while I learnt was generating “free traffics”. Guess what, I gained back my US$1K investment within a month by implementing his PPC techniques!
Besides, I have also learnt another tip from the mini website built by Phil Wiley. The mini site was designed with the Skyscrapper (120×600) Adsense ads at the left panel. This looks like a site navigation. Such a smart placement was extremely effective that time. I implemented this placement in all my other websites. Since I’m in the investment niches, the earning per click was very lucrative. I got an average US$1 per click. My Adsense income was quickly jumped up to more than $1k per month. Such easy money will not sustainable. After about a year or so, earning per click started to drop as most advertisers did not see their ROI in content search network and Google also started to implement different bids for search and content networks. Now, Adsense is no longer my focus but I still earn a minimal income from them each month.
My second breakthrough…
I would like to thank Chris for his Affiliate Project X. This e-book was an important turning point to me into a full-time affiliate marketer. I learnt the important of building a review page, targeted keywords, effective PPC ads and technique to compete with other affiliates.
Such a few ideas boosted my Clickbank’s income from 3-figure into a 4-figure per month.
I will share a case study later on how I earn 5-figure in one Forex product.
Full time as a affiliate marketer…
On 1st October 2008, I become a full time affiliate marketer.
Before this, I was struggling to go full time at the end of year 2007. I was so frustrated about my job but still persevered to stay on. The reason is I was the first staff in the new set up foreign company in Penang. I put a lot of efforts in helping the setting up of the new factory. I gained so much valuable experiences in facility setting-up, government permits, recruiting & etc. However, I have the problem with the unusual company culture and management style. I knew this is not the company for me to grow and advance my career. I quit without delay after the official opening of the factory.
This is the right decision to me even though it happened during the global financial crisis. I can fully focus on affiliate marketing and pursue my business study part-time.
Believe the unbelievable.
Dream the impossible.
Never take no for an answer.
Since then, I have never earn less than my full-time job…
